Dogs Rule!

We love having well behaved dogs stay here at The Elderton and we welcome them with open arms.  We really hope that they enjoy their stay as much as their human owners do, so we try to make our house a home from home for them too.

We know that coming to a strange and unfamiliar place can be a little unsettling, so our main rule is that dogs are not to be left alone in the house as, after all, it is their holiday too.

Beaches

In 2011 Northumberland County Council first put in place an exclusion order on dogs accessing parts of beaches at Newbiggin (and Blyth) over the summer months. Dogs are also not allowed in any enclosed children’s play areas all year round.

The measures mean dogs are forbidden on the section of beach at Newbiggin from the breakwater beside Church Point to the access from the promenade beside Sidney Crescent, from May 1 to September 30 each year.

Most people honour this annual agreement but anyone breaching the ban could be issued with an on the spot fixed penalty notice of £100.

Don't worry though...Needle's Eye and East Beach are dog friendly all year round and are both only a few minute's walk from The Elderton.

Our Dog Guide
